Chapter one
The destination wedding I almost planned
Becoming a destination wedding specialist was never the plan. I earned my master's degree in counseling from Webster University and genuinely loved the work. But in 2003, everything shifted. Newly engaged, I walked into a travel agency to plan my own destination wedding, full of hope.
I walked out discouraged. The agent handed me one recommendation I'd never heard of, one that didn't fit the vision or the budget I'd described. No one asked what I actually wanted. I lost my nerve, abandoned the idea and got married closer to home instead.

Chapter two
The experience that changed everything
Not long after, I attended my best friend's destination wedding. Watching her celebration unfold in a setting that truly suited her, it hit me. The real problem was the guidance I'd been handed.
That realization became the seed of a career. My husband, Ted, and I founded WorldWide Travel Team in 2009. WorldWide Destination Weddings is the niche division of WorldWide Travel Team, dedicated entirely to international destination weddings and wedding-group travel. This is the exact kind of thoughtful, personal guidance I once needed and couldn't find.
