If you want to use the Preferred Beach venue specifically, Preferred Club is required — the couple or wedding group must be booked into Preferred Club to reserve that venue. Beyond the venue, Preferred Club is worth strong consideration if an oceanfront room matters to you — here, Preferred Club isn't just an amenity upgrade, it's the only way to access oceanfront room categories at all, since the Preferred Club buildings are the ones closest to the beach. Benefits include personalized check-in, lounge access, premium liquor, and butler service — but the real reason to upgrade is the room location itself, not the extras. A guest who won't spend much time in the room may be perfectly happy in a standard category instead, which is why a room block often works best with more than one tier available.

Not automatically better than a high-floor oceanfront room — it depends what you'd actually use more: direct pool access, or a stronger view and more privacy. At this resort specifically, 'swim-out' doesn't automatically mean 'oceanfront' — there are swim-out rooms with pool/tropical views and separate swim-out oceanfront categories. Read the exact room name before assuming.

Balance affordability with enough variety: a lower-cost entry room for budget-conscious guests, Preferred Club ocean-view and oceanfront options, and a suite for the two of you. Room occupancy here runs two or three adults depending on category, with some oceanfront rooms capped at two — confirm this before guests assume they can share.

Costa Mujeres, roughly 23 miles from Cancun International Airport, north of the Hotel Zone. Drive time depends on traffic and how many stops a shared transfer makes. Treat transportation as part of the guest experience, not an afterthought — confirm whether transfers are private or shared, how delayed flights are handled, and whether a representative meets guests at the airport.

Most of our Mexico couples choose a symbolic ceremony in the resort and handle legal paperwork at home, which sidesteps the translated-document and residency requirements a legal ceremony in Mexico involves.

This is one of my absolute favorite resorts I've toured — a genuine showstopper. Not a single guest at this wedding walked away thinking anything other than that the bride and groom had chosen a top-notch resort. That's not a compliment I hand out lightly after touring 300+ properties.

Décor, aesthetics, and overall vibe aren't necessarily what matter most to me — but they're something I noticed in every corner of this resort, from the lobby to the rooms to even the guest bathrooms, the venues, the spa furniture. Every inch of this property was clearly designed with luxury in mind. It's actually shaping how I'm designing my own home mid-construction right now — I walked around this resort more than once thinking, 'the same designer must have done my house.'

One more honest gripe, and it has nothing to do with your wedding day logistics: that lobby. It might be the single most stunning space on the entire property — architecturally unlike anything else in their portfolio — and it would make an absolutely showstopping ceremony backdrop. A couple of past weddings did use it, but only for a steep fee, since the resort has to redirect arriving guests elsewhere during the ceremony. From what I understand, they've stopped offering it altogether now. That's a real shame. A space this photogenic shouldn't just sit there as a hallway everyone walks past.

One more honest comparison: I did a split stay, starting at Live Aqua Cancún before coming here, and the difference was noticeable — especially the room. I loved the room at Secrets Playa Blanca, especially having a soaking tub. It felt genuinely exotic and luxurious in a way the previous stay didn't.
