Everyone had prepared me for how massive this resort would be. What surprised me was how manageable it felt. I’d put it on the shortlist for a lively wedding group with families, especially when food, entertainment and plenty to do are priorities.

What I loved

The vertical towers and elevators felt easier to get around than a sprawling resort.
In my experience, the food and drinks were outstanding.
I loved the rooftop pool.
Indoor dining and entertainment were convenient for evenings, bad weather and heels.
The covered wooden gazebos and outdoor wedding settings among the mangroves caught my eye.

Who I recommend it for

Lively wedding groups and families who want lots of activities.
If you’re after a quiet, boutique-style honeymoon, another option may suit you better.

What to know

During my September visit, a trolley took us to a boardwalk, then we walked through the mangroves to the beach. I couldn’t see the beach from the pool areas I visited. It’s a beach-access tradeoff to weigh.
I saw some seaweed during my September visit. Conditions change.

Arrival tip: My bracelet key didn’t work at first. Have the bellman go with you to your room and test your key before they leave.
